Yesterday, December .14, 2020, was an important day in the history of our nation. The Electoral College changed from quiet formal proceedings in 50 states in our union, to day long series of nationally televised ceremonial events, which moved our Presidency once again closer to a peaceful transition of power.
This was also the first day that vaccines protecting against the sometimes fatal Covid-19 coronavirus began to be distributed.
As Peter Baker reported in the New York Times, “The day played out in a remarkable fashion as television viewers watched images of health care workers receiving lifesaving injections juxtaposed with live shots from state capitals around the country showing electors casting votes formally confirming the victory of President-elect Joseph R. Biden Jr. and Vice President-elect Kamala D. Harris."
To cite Benjamin L. Ginsberg, a leading Republican election lawyer who has been critical of President Trump's efforts to overturn the vote that he lost, put it, “It is a cosmic convergence."
The day then ended with President Elect Biden addressing the nation, assuring our citizens once again that he would be the president of all Americans, not just those who voted for him. He also did not mince words against Trump and GOP supporters who supported false claims against the election itself.
Here is the President Elect's speech.

Did I mention that yesterday also was the first day of in person voting in Georgia, where the election of two Democratic Senators -Jon Ossoff and Reverend Raphael Warnock -on January 5th would guarantee that Joe would be able to govern, not face Mitch McConnell obstruction for appointees and policy? We can get our nation back on the right path with these 3 moves forward.
