Tanya Melich left the Republican party in 1998 over its official treatment of women and is now an independent. She is the author of the 1996 acclaimed book, "The Republican War Against Women: An Insider's Report From Behind the Lines". She is known as the first person to coin the phrase, "Republican War Against Women" that has become a staple of political rhetoric.
