The Kushner and Prince examples suggest a pattern of Trump team efforts to establish communications with Moscow outside of official USG channels. None of their excuses justify these unusual actions. What type of relationship were they pursuing that would require such secrecy?

We must stop naively repeating Trump’s claim to simply not be convinced of Moscow’s interference. His team was informed of it. He publicly encouraged it. He pushed Kremlin propaganda throughout the race. He knew what was happening and was a cooperating element of the operation.
