March for Our Lives has raised the call for a congressional Town Hall in every district in America on April 7th.Town Hall Project
Hundreds of thousands marched across the country on March 24th. But that's only the beginning. To take this message directly to lawmakers, we need them to hear us directly -- and soon.
Every single member of Congress is back in their district on District Work Period -- better known as "recess" -- between March 23rd and April 9th.
The organizers of March for Our Lives are hoping they can turn more than 700 marches in the U.S. on ending gun violence into 535 town halls on April 7 – one for every member of Congress right before they return to work on April 9.
According to Nathan Williams, managing director of the Town Hall Project, which is helping out March for Our Lives organizers on the issue,If the member of Congress refuses to show up, they'll have an "empty chair" town hall, inviting members' campaign opponents and hosting constituents to voice their concerns. So far, 48 members of Congress have in-person town halls scheduled over the recess, and about a third of them are Republicans.
Join the effort to make our elected officials talk with us.
Call your elected officials and tell them you have things to say and want them to set an April 7th time to listen to and interact with their constituents.
