This is what I am grateful for:
I am grateful that I don't have to watch those terrible people shriek horrible things about Hillary Clinton anymore.
The theory of non-violent resistance, as proposed by Ghandi and Martin Luther King, is that the oppressor will eventually get sickened by his own violence and walk away. Sadly, that doesn't seem to hold with hysterical mobs who seemingly never get sickened by their own violence. And we all were so proud of how brave Hillary was, facing down that shitshow, and it was wonderful having her as a role model. But it was too much, and it was bad for America. A lot of people convinced themselves that was fun and funny to scream hideous lies and innuendo and out and out vile threats at a truly great woman. Honestly, I think they would have gone ahead and killed her, if it wasn't illegal.
It was all just Lord of the Flies.
Honestly, it was sickening. And now, it won't go on. We won't have to watch her take that abuse from those corrupt Republicans in congress. We won't have to listen to them all make shit up about impeaching her for nothing. We're going to be spared that, and so is she.
We're also going to get to see what she does when she comes back from a much-deserved vacation. She remains one of the most courageous and brilliant women who has ever stood up for this great nation, and she's hardly going to stop now. She's going to continue her work and we're all going to get to help her, without a bunch of lunatics screaming at us while we do it.
We're going to figure out, with her and others who have been inspired by her, how to reclaim this great nation so that it can again be a beacon to the world. We are going to proclaim the mighty truths of our constitution. All men and women ARE created equal! Bullies and mobs and hate speech are not what America is about! Hillary Clinton knows that, and got out there and fought for that, and that's why we all voted for her, and that's what I'm grateful for.
And let's not forget: she won the popular vote! There are more of us than there are of them. So I'm grateful for that, too.
