You probably have been hearing about Republicans turning to Hillary.
Voices4Hillary has published the wordsof 2 prominent defections-- Senator Susan Collins of Maine on video andCharles Fried, former US Solicitor General, in The Boston Globe.
You may have read about the 50 GOP National Security Officialswho warned that Trump would put the Nation's security at risk.
And then there is the issue of white Republican women who have walked away from a reckless, racist and generally repellent candidate. He is losing college educated women. Among those who have recently left are Meg Whitman, CEO of Hewlett Packer and former chair of Chris Christie's finance committee, and Jennifer Pierotti Lim, a life long Republican and an executive at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce.
Donald Trump wraps himself in the 2nd Amendment, but it is the 19th Amendment that will do him in.
This remark from Dina Vela, a project manager in San Antonio who said she has always voted Republican and remained wary of Hillary Clinton, makes clear some of the issues, "For people like me, who are Republican but reasonable and still have our brains attached, it's hard to see Trump as a reasonable, sane Republican." (New York Times, August 9, 2016)
These are unusual times.
Donald Trump's appeal to 2nd Amendment extremists to kill Hillary and the declarations from his supporters like Roger Stone and Al Baldasaro that Hillary "should be shot for treason" and "we should expect a bloodbath if he loses" are an existential threat to our way of life.
This is a clear and binary choice. A Vote for Hillary is a vote for who we are as a people. A vote for Trump or a 3rd party candidate is a vote against our way of life.
To quote Thomas Friedman yesterday, "I only pray that is he not simply defeated, but that he loses all 50 states so that the messages goes out across the land--unambiguously, loud and clear: the likes of you should never come this way again.
REGISTER TO VOTE. GET OTHERS REGISTERED. VOTE FOR HILLARY ON NOVEMBER 8.
One further note--Here is a video that makes clear too that we should be afraid, very afraid. It is right. A reckless man could create nuclear war.
