On September 17, 2012, the often silent retired Justice David broke his silence to talk with PBS.

He warned about a threat to Democracy caused not by a foreign invasion.

Souter warned that danger to Democracy comes from Civic Ignorance and... when problems are not addressed from say, an economic meltdown, some One Person will Come Forward and say Give Me Total Power.

If we don't know where responsibility lies and know we can influence that by Voting, "that is the way Democracy dies."

"If something is not done to affect the level of Civic Knowledge, that is what keeps me up at night."

An ignorant people cannot remain a free people.

Here are Justice Souter's prophetic words. 2012 -before there was Trump.

First, we need to win this. We need to vote. Vote Hillary.

We need to demand performance from those responsible for many of our problems. It's the Gridlock, Stupid!

Vote Hillary. Vote Blue.

Second, we need to educate our people on how government can and should function.
